Simple three star hotel in a good central location just off Plaza Catalunya (ideal for the airport bus). Breakfast is pretty good for the standard of hotel and is ample for most tastes. The main benefit is the location, it is worth noting that some guests report noise from trafic and underground trains, this is not uncommon for three star central Barcelona hotels.

Great city centre location next to Plaza Catalunya at the North end of the Ramblas
Staff nice and friendly for a limited service hotel they seem to try their best.
A number of guests have reported noise when staying in rooms on the lower floors.
Clean, modern, comfortable rooms with simple tasteful decor.

Centrally situated in the city of Barcelona, the hotel is 2 minutes walk from the Paza Catalunya, Ramblas and Gothic Quarter (historical and cultural centre of Barcelona). Nearby the hotel you will find the commercial area with all kinds of shops, restaurants and cafeterias.

The staff also appeared to prefer if they werent asked anything at all!... After approaching reception staff twice I eventually got changed to a twin room ... reception area was very impersonal and staff on duty were polite but not terribly friendly... reception staff were not very friendly as we entered or left the hotel. Everyone else was friendly and hard working though. ... Pleasant staff. ... friendly, helpful staff.... All the staff were really friendly and helpful and we received a warm welcome despite arriving really late at 1.30am. ... all staff were very friendly and helpfull... staff are very friendly... staff was nice ... There are a total of 65 guestrooms in the hotel. They are small but well decorated with light coloured furnishings to create a feeling of space. All rooms are well equipped with satellite TV, direct dial telephone, air-conditioning and safety deposit box.

You only need a basic room ... Small room but clean and comfortable ... For our stay it was impossible to relax or get proper sleep with the constant noise and vibrations of the underground metro or passing trains.... room was small and very basic.... the bedroom however was barely big enough for a single bed... Bit noisy if you are in a room on the front ... I booked a twin room & got a double room which was extrememly small... room we were given was so small that there was barely room to walk around the edge of the bed... it was very basic, had no views ... Had to request larger room and in new room blinds did'nt work.... room and bathroom were both a decent size and spotlessly clean... Although do take ear plugs as with tile floors, every chair or furniture scrape is amplified throughout the hotel and is really noisy. (perhaps we just had a noisy room!) ... Difficult to adjust air con.. room was chilly for first night.... Had safe in room, which didn't have to pay for - that was good. ... Too noisy, a bit cramped in the room department especially the bathroom... SMALL ROOMS - VERY CLEAN...

General Hotel Information

The Gran Ducat is a modern, recently refurbished property that offers a good standard of accommodation in a central location. Housed in a traditional building that is in keeping with the surrounding area of Eixample. The rooms are modern, clean and well presented. The hotel has a bright little bar and a stylish entrance area. A good standard medium range hotel in the busy and lively location of central Barcelona.

We booked this hotel quite late (a few days before our stay) and perhaps as a consequence paid more than this hotel was worth.... This hotel was excellent value for money ... This was a good choice for a short break holiday and I would recommend it to friends... Breakfast was adequate with a good choice available.... If all you want is a clean, good value hotel 100m from NE corner of PLaza de Catalunya then this is the Hotel for you! ... basic hotel. - a bit hostel like... Good breakfast ...even if you had to get it all your self including cooking your own toast!... Highly recommended ... Usual buffet style breakfast and helpful staff.... Plain - no frills but good value for money ... very clean ... Great hotel...

Had a great holiday in Barcelona. Great shops and restaurants and plenty to see and explore. We will be going again next year.

Top Tip

The tour buses are great and you will see all the sights. Get down to the port and beach you can spend a day strolling round. Try Attic and Citrus on La Ramblas for excellent food and value for money.
