Ramblas Hotel

Situated right on Las Ramblas towards the port end, the hotel offers a great base from which to explore and enjoy Barcelona. Traditional Catalan outdoor dining is available just 2 minutes walk away in the Plaza Reial or down towards the port (in Barceloneta, the old fishing village). Along Las Ramblas you will find other attractions such as Liceu Theatre and Boqueria market, as well as the many little flower stalls and cafes. The Gothic Quarter with all its narrow cobbled streets and small squares is just across the road. The two closest metro stations are Liceu to the north and Drassanes towards the port. Both are less than 4 minutes walk away. A taxi from Barcelonas main airport will take 20 to 25 minutes.

Rooms are generally a good size, they are all en-suite and comfortable. The bedrooms are variable, some are large and well decorated, others face the Ramblas so although you have a view they can be noisy at night. The quieter rooms tend to be internal with no windows, and therefore not ideal for most. Rooms are allocated on a first come first serve basis. Quad rooms are made up of a triple with an extra bed. The family rooms are larger rooms with one double bed in the main room and a sofa bed and single in the small room next door. General Hotel Information

The Ramblas hotel is very popular 3 star property. Its name and location tend to sell the hotel on their own, however it is provides only a reasonable standard of rooms and service. The rooms can be a bit of a let down, at the front they can be noisy but with a great view, at the back they have no view or are internal with no windows. Built in early 1900 and designed by Mountaner, this hotel has an interesting facade which has been completely restored to its former glory. Traditional in style, the hotel reception and lobby/bar make use of wooded paneling, dark blue crested materials and marble floors. The bar is situated along a large corridor/passage that leads from the reception to restaurant. The restaurant serves as the breakfast lounge in the mornings. The hotel is very busy all year round and struggles to provide a consistant level of service, however its location makes it an ideal base from which to explore Barcelona.
