We have stayed at the Maldron twice now, it is a lovely hotel. The only down side is that it is a good 15 minute walk from O'Connell Street. There is a lot of building work going on close to the hotel (across the road)which was a bit noisy but finished around 4pm. It wasn't a problem because we were out and about all day. The leisure facilites are very relaxing after a full days walking and shopping.
Top Tip
Take a walk round the hotel block and into Grand Central Square. Contemporary buildings around the quay, very nice area to sit and have lunch. Every type of restaurant you can think of available in the town. A must try is Yamamori (Japanese)near the Arlington Hotel, O'Connell bridge Wonderful food experience, the sushi and shasimi is a delight. The pubs around Temple Bar are great. The Ha'penny Bridge Inn has live music on Friday and Saturday nights (upstairs). There is no cover charge either! They have a Blues/Blue grass (don't be put off by this) two piece group on Saturday nights who are incredible musicians. They have won awards in Nashville. An incredible night of entertainment not to be missed. NB Dublin is expensive so be prepared to spend a lot! This hasn't put us off going again (already been twice this year) - we are already planning our return.

Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We wanted connecting rooms, they got it wrong 1st time and quickly moved us to another room. Buffet breakfast was worth it. Hotel facilities were great. Only downside there wasn't a safe deposit box in the hotel room, however the hotel itself was very safe and secure. Would recommend :)

We managed to get a bus from O'Connel street which stopped on pearse street/macken street, a 2 minute walk to the hotel. Bus numbers that went in that direction were 1, 2, 3 or 77.

Its approximately 30-40 minutes walk of main city centre shopping, Temple Bar, sightseeing and business districts and not 15 mins as mentioned in the review. There is currently a building site across the road so if you enjoy being woken up at 07:30 sharp every morning except Sunday then this is the hotel for you.

Get a cab and take an umbrella.

We would have preferred to be told in advance that the pool was closed.
The hotel was spotless and the food was great. Apart from the pool being closed we could not fault a thing. The hotel is a good 15 minute walk from O'Connell St/Grafton St/Temple Bar area.
While this was fine to walk during the day, it felt a little unsafe during the evenings. Budget for a 10 euro cab fare (each way).

Do the bus tour first, you then get vouchers with money off for local attractions. Also, the drivers provide great entertainment.
The guinness factory was excellent, it was quiet when we went and we got around in about 2 1/2 hours. The views from the top were superb.
The Book of Kells and the Long Room in Trinity College are well worth a look.
The pubs in Temple Bar offered great live music - a must for all visitors.

The leisure facilities were unavialable during our visit that is why I have marked facilities low, we were not informed that they were out of service and even left a compliant for the hotel manager who didn't have the courtesy to follow up.

Reception staff were not particularly friendly or efficient. Breakfast arrangements were chaotic on first morning. Also pool and leisure facilities were out of action. Probably just teething problems for what is a new facility.

Hotel was fine but service very poor, breakfast service a nightmare, having to wait for coffee, bacon sausage constantly. We were not told that you had to order fried eggs so had to make do with scrambled. Understand that they are looking to change the system. The facilities were great swimming pool, sauna, steam room jaccuzi. Hotel is a pleasant walk from the city centre

The Ferryman on the corner is a good place to stop off on the way back to the hotel for a night cap. There is a lot of high rise development in the area and the new bridge acroos the Liffey will give better acess to the opposite bank.

The hotel was excellent and we were updated to an executive room free of charge which was good.
It takes about 15 minutes walk down to Temple Bar if you just follow the river straight down.
