General Hotel Information
The privately owned Channings Hotel was created from several Georgian townhouses, which have been made into one quite special property suitable for both business and leisure travellers. The hotel was once home to Sir Ernest Shackleton and in honour of this Antarctic explorer there is an understated theme of exploration throughout the hotel. With the charm of a country house combined with the convenience of being in a city centre, your stay in this hotel will be made all the more enjoyable thanks to the friendly, caring staff.
The lobby has two intimate lounges both with comfortable leather sofas, antique style furniture and large ornate fireplace. A WIFI internet connection is available in the lounge area: an ideal place to relax after a day in the shops of Princes Street!
The lounge leads to the basement wine bar and onto the restaurant.
While the hotel is too small to have leisure facilities, guests can enjoy the nice weather by taking advantage of the private terrace behind the property or may make use of the locked gardens to the front.
There are 41 bedrooms in the hotel, all designed and decorated individually and to a high standard. The rooms are elegant and have a mixture of bright tones and plush fabrics.

Rooms do not have a mini bar but the hotel operates a 24-hour room service.
The basement wine bar is very popular with both residents and local clientele and offers a large selection of wines, cocktails and spirits. Bar meals are available both at lunchtime and in the evenings.
Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, the Channings Restaurant offers a tasty blend of modern cuisine with exciting seasonal flavours and tends to concentrate on organic produce where available. Although located in the basement of the hotel, the large windows opening to the rear terrace offer plenty of natural light and – coupled with the modern decor and lush greenery – give the restaurant a light and airy feel.
Breakfast consists of large buffet with all hot food being cooked to order.
There is no private parking at the hotel although on street parking in this primarily residential area is currently free of charge.

No 28 Charlotte Square for tea and scones. Camera Obscura great fun and a brilliant way to see the city and it's history before you explore it even more.

The Hotel is lovely but the staff really do make this hotel excellent.
Bedroom was a little smaller than I expected for the price of the hotel, although had everything you'd need.
