The standard of decor at the Grand was excellent, and the staff were all highly professional and helpful. A little pricey, so we stayed for 3 of the 5 nights in town. Lovely sized room and very comfortable bed, lovely touches like bathrobes and chocolates in the room. Good breakfast buffet with both hot and cold food available and served to a very civilized 11:00am.

Definitely take a walk down to the Kazmieri, the old Jewish quarter. We tried a few 'traditional' Polish restaurants which were all good value for money. Try the honey coated pork ribs.

Staff were very friendly and very attentive which made our stay very pleasant. Our only gripe was the fact that at some times in the day there were noisy roadworks outside but this was hardly the fault of the hotel and they will no doubt be finished soon - certainly didn't spoil our stay.

We would say that Krakow is more of a three day city break kind of place. We did like Pod Aniolami at ul. Grodzka 35 a couple of minutes off the main square (don't blink or you will miss the entrance) - well worth the experience.

Beautiful, exquisite period hotel with an abundance of character and great location bit pricey though regards mini bar and room service.

Must do eat in cellar of Wierzynek - just off main square, salt mines and Auschwitz a must see 90 and 100 zloty's for guided excursion. Hire a english speaking polish guide for tour of wawel castle /catherdral also a must do and hidden away in the Czartoryski museum are two priceless art works by rembrandt and Da Vinci

Very close to the Old Market Square close to all the restaurants etc. Only disappointment was that there was no area in the hotel to sit and read a book (other than the bedroom which was large)

All the advertised trips are good but you can do them by taking the local bus which is very cheap.

Excellent hotel. We had read some bad reports on this site re bookings etc but had nothing to fear. The hotel was immaculately presented. The staff couldn't have been nicer and the interior was very grand. Position was superb for the old town square.

We visited the Academy of music for a concert one evening, excellent performance and only £2.50 each! what a bargain. They have concerts most days sometimes two per day. Just up from the hotel.

Comment
The staff were efficient and friendly. However, the only negative comment I can make is that they failed to advise us of the clock change, summer time one hour on, although we did ask and they obviously did not understand the request and we nearly missed our flight home.

Must visit the salt mines. If you are active, it is quite easy to walk right round the city which is a good way to see it but there are plenty of other ways to get around.

Visited saltmines - awesome and Auschwitz - memorable. Krakow itself has lots to do.
