clean and friendly. Close to all central attractions. we were given the worst room in the hotel and did not look loke the internet picture - very dark.

Air conditioning in Venice does not get switched on until late April, early May. If you have your window open at night to let the heat out it can be quite noisy with passing people talking loudly until the early hours. We had very poor sleep as a result!!

The allocated room was extremely small, but described by the receptionist as 'comfortable'. We asked for an upgrade the second night. Although this was not possible due to lack of rooms, we were taken to their sister hotel and upgraded in a very gracious manner. If booking here, ensure you specify a superior room at time of booking.

The hotel itself was very good with high standards and excellent breakfast. However, there was some misrepresentation as the room allocated to us was in a separate building and of barely a 2 star standard. It was a very basic apartment. Fortunately, we were able to upgrade; unfortunately, it was at our expense. This has obviously coloured our impression of your website and as we are regular visitors to Venice this is sad for us both.

Osteria Mascaron, Calle Lunga, excellent food, good price, booking ahead essential. Evenings only. Closed Mon.

To begin with it wasn't the easiest to find but once you have spend a day in Venice you appreciated the location of the hotel. So nice and close to St Marc's Square. The Staff were extremely helpful and polite. When we arrived the room we were given was quite modern and I had booked this hotel on the basis that the rooms looked very Venician. Once I spoke to reception we were moved straight away to a lovely room in a Venician style. To find the hotel make sure you get off the waterbus at Zaccaria stop the one after San Marco. Just a 2 minute walk to hotel. Visit the local market over Rialto Bridge - amazing varieties of fish and fruit, veg etc. If you have time take a waterbus over to Lido there is a wonderful beach to relax on. Be prepared for lots of walking!!!
