The Kette Hotel is ideally situated near enough to St Marks Square and slightly off the main drag. It is on a canal and we had a fine room on the fourth floor with two windows allowing us a full view of same and the tourist laden gondolas . We could hear the gondoliers singing from our room as they passed which was quite a treat. The hotel had an excellent breakfast. All in all we had no complaints.
Top Tip
Get a water taxi when arriving and also on departure. Dragging suit cases around with the address system in Venice ruins the ambiance. The water taxi trip is super in and around various canals including the grand canal; far preferable that to the gondola ride in my opinion.

A compact tidy efficient hotel . with friendly attentive courteous staff . within relatively easy acess to water bus services .
It provides an excellent buffet breakfast from 7.30 to 10 .30. Local to the Fenice theatre and centally located with easy acess to St Marks square the Accademie Bridge , Frontmera Delle a Zattere and only a short distance from The Rialto Bridge.

The handsomest reception staff we've ever encountered!
Generally the staff were efficient and helpful.Only one member of the bar staff was unhelpful to the point of rudeness. However we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and although only a few minutes walk to the centre it was quiet outside the hotel at night.
Top Tip
Bar restaurant near Fenice theatre good for snacks and evening meals. Restauarant Al Angelo at Hotel Angelo wonderful food and brilliant staff. Water taxi worth it for a group(we were 7) at E150.

Even though I had emailed the hotel directly and they had replied to me, check-in was very time consuming - they were quite disorganised, other than that everything was great.

Fresh fruit salad at breakfast would have been nice instead of tinned fruit.
Bar did not stock good variety of drinks and was not open late.
Top Tip
Be aware of having a long walk to hotel with heavy luggage if using the water bus. A must is to drink a Bellini in St Marks Square listening to classical music and the chime of midnight from St Marks.

Hotel was in a great postion for sites and amenities and shopping! Breakfasts were a buffet style and adequate. Rooms were to an excellent standard and we were lucky enough to get one positioned over the Grand Canal.
Top Tip
This hotel was great for being on the doorstep of St Marks Square, Dodge's Palace and the Bracilia. We caught the ferry to Murano, Burano and Torcello to complete our travels of the area. Railto is only a short distance walk through the shopping area which is where we found the best places to eat although they do charge for you to sit by the Grand Canal.
